Articles of Mie Australia New Zealand Society

Art. 1 NAME: The Name of this organisation shall be Mie Australia New Zealand Society.

Art. 2 OBJECT: The object of the Society shall be to promote interchange and sustainable development of such fields as culture, sports, education, nature, environment, life, politics, administration, industry, economy and etc. on a voluntary basis in the spirit of equal partnership.

Art. 3 ACTIVITIES: The Society will engage in the following activities to attain its object.
(1) Collection and provision of information from and about Australia and New Zealand.
(2) Holding events, such as, research activities, lectures, seminars, and symposiums.
(3) Interchange of persons through accepting Australian and New Zealanders on a homestay basis and sending members to Australia and New Zealand. (4) Co-operation with other societies dealing with Australia and New Zealand.
(5) Co-operation with Australian and New Zealand high government officials in Japan.
(6) Publication of a Newsletter.
(7) Any other such activities as are deemed necessary for the attainment of its object.

Art. 4 MEMBERSHIP:
(1) There shall be three categories of membership in the Society. Individuals / Families / Juridical Persons of Firms
(2) Any person and family who wishes to become a member shall file the Society application form. The Council described in the Art.9 and the General Meeting described in the Art.8 shall decide on the application.

Art.5 THE DUES:
(1) The annual dues should be paid to the Society as below. Individuals \2500 / Families \5000 / Juridical Persons \10000
(2) The Society shall not charge guest members. (3) Pro-rata payment of dues is not permitted. Any Individual / Family / Juridical Persons of Firms wishing to become a member must pay the full annual membership fee irrespective of the date of commencement of membership.

Art.6 THE FINANCIAL YEAR: The financial year of this Society shall commence on the first day of April every year and terminate on 31st day of March of the year following.

Art.7 COUNCILLORS:    
(1) The Society shall have the following Councillors: One President: The President shall preside over all affairs of the Society. Two Vice Presidents: The Vice Presidents shall assist the President. Six Directors: One Director for each field as below. Culture & Sports / Education / Nature & Environment / life / Politics & administration / industry & economy One Auditor: The Auditor shall audit Accounts. One Secretary Manager: The Secretary Manager shall preside over all affairs of the Secretariat. A few Vice Secretary Managers: The Vice Secretary Managers shall assist the Secretary Manager.
(2) The Councillors shall be elected by a General Meeting from among the members of the Society. (3) The term of the Councillors shall be two years, but they shall be eligible for reelection.

Art.8 GENERAL MEETING:
(1) There will be an Annual General Meeting.
(2) The Chairperson of a General Meeting shall be elected by members present at the Meeting.
(3) Decisions of a General Meeting shall be determined by a majority of two thirds of members attending a General Meeting.
(4)An Extraordinary General Meeting shall be called when more than one third of the Members request the President or the Council, under article 9, decide a Meeting is needed.

Art.9 COUNCIL:
(1) The Council shall consist of the Councillors under article 7 and a Council meeting shall be convened when the President decides a meeting is needed or more than one third of the Councillors request a meeting.
(2) The President shall chair a Council meeting.
(3) Decisions of a Council meeting shall be determined by a majority of the Councillors attending a meeting.

Art.10 COMMITTEE
(1) Committees shall be formed consisting of a few members to assist the Board of Directors
(2) The Board of Directors shall appoint the Committees members.

Art.12 The President shall decide all other necessary business by a resolution of the Council.

Art.13 These Articles shall take effect from May 7, 1999.
